Finish the Year Strong: How to End 2025 on Purpose

Welcome to my very first blog post! I’m excited to start sharing thoughts, ideas, and little life nudges that help us show up intentionally. There won’t be fluff here. Just practical, sometimes messy, real-life strategies for living with purpose. And what better way to kick things off than talking about how to finish the year strong?

The end of the year is NOT the time to coast. It’s the finisher.

The End-of-Year “Finisher” Moment

If you’ve ever taken a fitness class, you know the drill — you’re sweaty, exhausted, questioning all your life choices… and then the instructor yells, “TIME FOR THE FINISHER!”

Burpees included. Obviously.

That moment? That’s where you decide. Coast or dig in. And honestly… the end of the year works the same way.

The Exercise That Changed My Perspective

During my keynote at Church Fitness, I asked everyone to fill out this quick exercise:

“For the rest of 2025 I want to show up as ______.

And the action I’m committing to is ______.”

Mine?

  • Show up as a more present parent.

  • Action: less screen time.

Cute, right? Except my brain immediately went: “Perfect. I’ll start Nov 19 with everyone else. Not today. Later.”

Sound familiar? We’ve ALL done that.

“I’ll start Monday.”

“I’ll start next month.”

“I’ll start in the new year because…”

Why Finishing Strong Matters

Here’s the thing: habits don’t care what day it is. Momentum doesn’t wait for Jan 1. How you finish the year directly shapes how you start the next one.

Your End-of-Year Action Plan

So here’s your gentle (or not-so-gentle) reminder:

✨ This month IS the finisher.

✨ You choose how you show up.

✨ You can make excuses… or make moves.

Start the thing now. Take the step today. Build the habit so January doesn’t feel like a rescue mission—it’s just the next step in your momentum.

Whether it’s showing up more fully as a parent, friend, leader, or simply to yourself, the power is in your hands. YOU CHOOSE. CHOOSE TO RISE.
